Buy 500g Cafetto brand Espresso Machine Cleaner.
A specially designed cleaning powder from Cafetto - the world's leading coffee cleaning brand.
Developed for use with both commercial and domestic espresso machines.
Espresso Machine cleaner is an easy-to-use powder for routine maintenance such as back flushing and removing coffee oil residue.
You can also use Espresso machine cleaner powder with hot water to soak coffee-making equipment and remove coffee oil residue.
This powder is for use in dissolving coffee oils.
Espresso machine cleaner is not to be used for de-scaling kettles or boilers.
Please take care if using the product to remove coffee stains on general surfaces such as timbers, stones or benchtop materials.
As with all cleaning products, surfaces could be at risk of tarnish if misused.
It's essential to chemically clean espresso machines to improve extracted coffee flavour and prevent blockage of the machine's 3-way valve.
Recommended Cleaning Schedules
You may wonder if there is such a thing as "too much cleaning" for espresso equipment.
The answer is yes, and this is particularly relevant where chemicals are involved.
We recommend that chemical cleaning is undertaken at least monthly in most homes.
That is our advice, and naturally, it will depend upon the machine's usage- the coffee volume.
As with any cleaning regime, higher usage equals more frequent cleaning.
We recommend that chemical cleaning be performed weekly or monthly, depending upon usage.
That is sufficient for most domestic or residential environments, preparing around 1 - 4 coffees daily.
However, cleaning cycles for commercial cafes will undoubtedly be more frequent, and again, it depends upon the volume of coffee produced on the equipment.
It's common practice for most commercial cafes to perform a daily or alternate-day chemical cleaning.
Generally, for cafes, the chemical cleaning process is performed at the end of the day after service has finished.
After Chemical Cleaning
Please ensure you flush the chemical cleaning agents from the machine. It also extends to include all parts that were soaking in solution.
It's essential to thoroughly remove any cleaning agent residue before using the equipment again.
Nobody wants to ingest chemicals.
We back-flush with water only at least 12 times after chemical cleaning.
Then, we run at least 1 litre of water from each espresso machine group.
Then, we pull two shots of coffee and dispose of the extracted solution. We call this "seasoning" the equipment again after a chemical clean.
It might sound a bit pedantic, but it washes away residues.
