Blends enable roasters to mix a variety of beans to achieve higher levels of consistency between different batches and harvests. So they can achieve a similar taste for coffees across a period of time. The best coffee blends can be made for years.
Best Quality Coffee Blends
A 3 or 4 bean blend might go through 7 or 8 different changes throughout a calendar year. Coffee is a fresh food and beans from the same region will differ through the years. They are often made from some of our best single origin coffee beans.
Just like mixing spices when cooking, not all coffee blends will work together in harmony. Sometimes the acids will clash resulting in an unbalanced cup. Experienced coffee roasters know how to adapt and manage these nuances.
